How many serial port connections do Avocent® ACS800/8000 Serial Consoles support?

• ACS800 has variants that include 2, 4, and 8 serial ports along with 4 multi-purpose USB 2.0 ports

• ACS8000 has variants that include 8, 16, 32, and 48 serial ports along with 8 multi-purpose USB 2.0 ports

What serial protocols/types does the ACS800/8000 support?

• RS-232

• RS-485

• RS-422 protocols via RJ-45 and USB 2.0 on Type A connectors 

How can I connect to and manage the ACS800/8000?

• In-band and out-of-band access (with network failover) are supported via

• (2) Gigabit Ethernet interfaces

• (2) Gigabit Fiber SFP ports (ACS8000 only)

• Optional v.92 analog modem and/or external  4G/LTE cellular modem

• Web-browser based GUI and local console port for CLI and Linux Shell commands

Can the ACS800/8000 be used to manage PDU and UPS systems?

• Yes. ACS800/8000 can automatically detect and support:

• Liebert® GXT4 UPS

• Rack PDUs from Vertiv™ Geist™, ServerTech, APC, Raritan and Eaton

How does the ACS800/8000 provide secure access?

Supported authentication protocols include:

• TACACS+

• RADIUS

• LDAP / AD

• Local authentication

• ACS has a built-in firewall with Access-Control Lists  (ACLs)

Can I connect sensors to the ACS800/8000?

Both the ACS800 and 8000 include digital and sensor inputs for connecting such things as temperature, smoke, moisture, or dry contact sensors. The ACS800 also has 4 digital outputs.
